Gold Coast Smart City Initiative
This project positions the Gold Coast as a 'smart city’ offering visitors and residents smart technology applications that enable ease of access to a range of services such as Wi-Fi, car parking, easy traffic flow, and public safety via CCTV networks and lighting.
The telecommunications improvements have been made at Surf Parade, Kurrawa Park and Coolangatta, improving the safety and overall experience for tourists and visitors now and into the future.
Furthermore, the improved telecommunications infrastructure at Broadbeach supports activity during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018).
The Public Domain Improvement Program (PDIP) funds minor capital works to deliver a range of long lasting benefits to the community as well as ensuring the best possible experience for visitors during GC2018.
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will transform the Gold Coast and Queensland by creating benefits for our communities before, during and after the 11 days of competition. These are the benefits that this initiative will bring to Queenslanders both within the Gold Coast and across our state:
