Townsville City Heritage Trails
Six Townsville heritage trails will be designed as a journey of discovery, highlighting important historical buildings, unique local stories and natural heritage. They will appeal to residents and visitors, taking them through the unique areas of interest of Townsville City.
An accompanying heritage phone application will include photographs, anecdotes, stories and historical information. It will provide an up-to-date, universally accepted platform combined with unique local content available to both Townsville residents and visitors.
The six heritage trails include:
- Civic Pride
- Early Townsville
- South Townsville and the Port
- Life, Death and Memorialisation in Early Townsville
- Townsville Women
- Publican’s Trail
The trails will leave a lasting legacy and promote the region as a centre for educational, nature-based and cultural tourism experiences as part of the 2020 Townsville North Queensland Destination Tourism Plan.
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will transform the Gold Coast and Queensland by creating benefits for our communities before, during and after the 11 days of competition. These are the benefits that this initiative will bring to Queenslanders both within the Gold Coast and across our state:
- GC2018 creates opportunities for permanent legacy benefits from infrastructure improvements
- GC2018 inspires Australians to become healthier and happier through an active lifestyle and physical activity.
