Engaged and Inclusive Communities

Hosting the 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) on the Gold Coast provides a unique opportunity to deliver a lasting legacy for Queensland’s diverse communities. It provides us with the opportunity to ensure legacy outcomes touch those in our community who may not otherwise benefit from hosting an international multi-sport event.

By empowering our youth, seniors, people with a disability, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as victims of domestic and family violence, GC2018 will be a catalyst for social change. We will celebrate the diversity of the Commonwealth and Queensland through arts, heritage, education, and sport.

As everyone has a role in creating Queensland’s legacy, working groups have been established across the state to ensure we maximise engagement with our communities. Through the unifying power of sport, Queenslanders can become involved in numerous ways to increase local community outcomes and achieve greater acceptance and cohesion within our communities.
