Women of the World
Women of the World: Celebrating the Women of the Commonwealth was a unique celebration of the achievements of girls and women from across Queensland and the Commonwealth.
Using the spirit of celebration and positivity, Women of the World: Celebrating the Women of the Commonwealth took a frank look at why gender inequality is still with us, and debated solutions together.
Founded by Jude Kelly CBE at London’s Southbank Centre in 2010, Women of the World explores the challenges and barriers for women and girls on subjects from the role of men in achieving gender equality, women in revolution, sport, sex, economics, politics, the arts, health, pop culture, education and everything in between.
Packed with exhibitions, events, performances, gigs, free music, markets and workshops, this lively and serious festival had something for everyone.
Women of the World: Celebrating the Women of the Commonwealth will bring people from all walks of life together to help take action to increase gender equity in our society.
- Not just for women, increased gender equity will benefit us all increasing innovation and encouraging diverse points of view to be reflected in the decisions and plans for our future.
