Pacific neighbour joins the Trade 2018 program
New Zealand's business and government leaders were invited to cross the Tasman for more than sport with recent Trade 2018 events.
A Trade 2018 delegation visited our Pacific neighbour for a pre-Christmas trip, ahead of the Queens Baton Relay which arrived in New Zealand on December 17.
The visit formed part of a dedicated Pacific trip to stimulate business and commercial opportunities within Pacific Commonwealth nations.
It was also an opportunity to formally recognise the many New Zealand communities and businesses who contributed to the One Million Stars installation. The stars will feature in a spectacular public art installation in Brisbane, Queensland, during GC2018 from 29 March until 15 April 2018.
Highlights of the New Zealand visit included:
- a Trade 2018 business lunch, held in collaboration with the Trans-Tasman Business Circle, to discuss the trade and investment opportunity for the Pacific arising from GC2018
- various meetings with government and business representatives including Pacific Trade and Invest Auckland, the Pacific Cooperation Foundation, the New Zealand Olympic Committee, the Australian High Commission and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission in Auckland.
Trade 2018, developed by the Queensland Government and City of Gold Coast, is ensuring an economic legacy that lasts long after the final GC2018 race has been run.
