Embracing 2018 Statewide Working Groups
Benefits from hosting the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) will be realised across Queensland. The Office of the Commonwealth Games has been working with regions throughout the state to maximise opportunities.
Following consultation with communities across Queensland, Embracing 2018 Working Groups were established to identify and deliver legacy opportunities.
Working Groups, made up of relevant community representatives are located in:
- Wide Bay Burnett
- Sunshine Coast
- Moreton Bay
- Darling Downs South West
- Ipswich Scenic Rim
Engagement also continues with Mount Isa and Western Queensland, Gladstone and Brisbane.
The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games will transform the Gold Coast and Queensland by creating benefits for our communities before, during and after the 11 days of competition. These are the benefits that this initiative will bring to Queenslanders both within the Gold Coast and across our state:
- GC2018 showcases legacy opportunities for future host cities.
- GC2018 is a catalyst for an increased sense of inclusivity, diversity and community pride in Gold Coast and Queensland communities
