Trade 2018 offers you the opportunity to take advantage of the very best of Queensland and the Gold Coast. Key opportunities exist in Health and Knowledge, Food and Agribusiness, Education and Training, and the Business of Sport.
Commencing at a formal ceremony at Buckingham Palace on Commonwealth Day (13 March 2017), the Queen’s Baton Relay will pass through every Commonwealth nation and territory in the lead-up to GC2018.
To build global business networks with buyers and investors, a parallel roadshow of business receptions and investor briefings in key markets will frame Trade 2018 international activities. Key business leaders will also be invited to Commonwealth House, an exclusive business space that will operate during Games-time and will welcome leaders from across the world to come together to discover trade and investment opportunities of Gold Coast City, Queensland and more broadly the Commonwealth.
From March 2017, Trade 2018 will work with Queensland suppliers to match them with international opportunities. Queensland and the Gold Coast will host inbound trade missions from key markets. These will be linked to a number of defined industry sectors, reflecting shared priorities across local, state and national program partners.
These efforts will also build on the local industry engagement work of local and state government agencies.
Trade 2018 culminates during GC2018 on the Gold Coast. The Games will be a magnet for international visitors—athletes, media and tourists, as well as representatives from foreign governments and businesses.
The celebration of sport and culture over the 11 days of the Games will be leveraged to promote economic opportunities in Queensland and the Gold Coast. There will be high-level meetings for potential buyers and investors to explore commercial opportunities as part of an exclusive program of VIP receptions, networking activities and Commonwealth trade events.
The Queensland Government and City of Gold Coast are partnering to deliver Commonwealth House—an exclusive space to host targeted business delegates and Commonwealth leaders from across the world.
